Clifton-upon-Dunsmore Neighbourhood Plan
The Clifton upon Dunsmore Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared by Clifton upon Dunsmore Parish Council in consultation with the local community. It was submitted to Rugby Borough Council (as the Local Planning Authority) on 05 September 2025.
A 6-week period of public consultation commenced on 23 September 2025, and ended on 04 November, in accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.
The neighbourhood plan and all responses received to that consultation were then submitted to an independent examiner, who undertook the examination of the plan.
The report of the examination was received on 23 February 2026. The report concludes that subject to some modifications, the Clifton upon Dunsmore Neighbourhood Plan may proceed to referendum. The Council has accepted the modifications recommended by the examiner as set out in the decision statement, pursuant to Regulation 18 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.
Copies of the decision statement can also be inspected at the following locations:
• Town Hall, Evreux Way, Rugby, CV21 2RR
• Rugby Library, Little Elborow Street, Rugby, CV21 3BZ
The examiner’s report confirms that the defined neighbourhood area (the parish of Clifton upon Dunsmore comprising the village of Clifton upon Dunsmore and the urban extension of Houlton) should be the area for the referendum. The date of the referendum is to be confirmed.
