Emergency alerts
The UK Government is testing the UK’s Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September at 3pm
Following a free assessment of your home by a qualified E.ON surveyor, we draw up a plan detailing the energy efficiency improvements which best suit your property.
Energy efficiency improvements to your home could include solar panels, an air source heat pump, external wall insulation, cavity wall insulation or loft insulation.

Solar panels can:
Fitting solar panels requires scaffolding to be erected at your home.
While the work can generate noise, the team at E.ON try to keep noise to a minimum.
Installation typically takes one to three days.
Do I need to clean my solar panels?
You shouldn't need to. Solar panels have been designed to be self-cleaning and have a special coating which prevents objects getting stuck on the panels.
How long do solar panels last?
Solar panels have been designed to last 20 to 25 years.
Do solar panels work in winter?
Yes, solar panels work throughout the year, regardless of the weather. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not sunlight or heat.
Can solar panels help me save money?
As you're generating your own electricity and not buying it from the grid, you can help reduce your monthly energy bills.
The amount depends on a few factors, such as the size of your solar system, your household energy consumption and electricity rates.
Air source heat pumps can:
Before starting installation, the E.ON team visit your home to decide the best location for your heat pump.
While the work can generate noise, the team at E.ON try to keep noise to a minimum.
Installation typically takes one to four days, depending on the condition of your home's existing pipework and radiators.
Can air source heat pumps work in cold weather?
Yes, modern air source heat pumps have been designed to work efficiently, even in cold weather.
The pumps extract heat from the outdoor air, even at low temperatures, to provide effective heating for your home.
Do air source heat pumps make a lot of noise?
Air source heat pumps generate some noise, like a fan or an air conditioning unit.
However, modern models have been designed to keep noise to a minimum, and proper installation and positioning can also help reduce any noise.
How long do air source heat pumps last?
Air source heat pumps can last up to 15 to 20 years, or longer.
Do I need a lot of outdoor space for an air source heat pump?
Air source heat pumps generally do not require a large amount of outdoor space - just enough room for proper airflow.
External wall, cavity wall and loft insulation can:
External wall insulation requires scaffolding to be erected at your home.
The team from E.ON need to drill into the walls to fit the insulation boards and apply a protective film to the windows to avoid damage or stains. Drilling creates noise but only takes place during typical working hours.
Each layer of render needs to cure for two to three days, a process which can be impacted by poor weather.
The E.ON team also need access to inside your home to complete the work, but aim to work around you.
Installation typically takes seven to ten working days for an average semi-detached house, dependent on the weather.
Cavity wall insulation requires drilling into the walls to inject the insulation.
Drilling creates noise but only takes place during typical working hours.
Installation typically takes two to four hours for an average house.
Loft insulation can be installed quickly and easily, though you'll need to clear your loft before work can begin.
Installation generates very little noise.
Installation typically takes one to two days.
My home does not feel warmer and I'm not saving money - does the insulation work?
The insulation does not make your home warmer - it keeps the heat in for longer, which means you can turn your heating off sooner than normal.
Make sure you check the temperature on your thermostat, as you might not need to set it as high as you normally would.
How much money can cavity wall and loft insulation save me?
This can vary due to the size of the property, household energy consumption and the insulation material used. But typically, a semi-detached home with cavity wall insulation can save up to £385* a year, while a semi-detached home with loft insulation can save up to £335* a year.
*Costs based on fuel prices under the Energy Price Guarantee, running from April 2023 to June 2023.
Is cavity wall insulation safe?
Yes, when installed correctly by specialist installers.
The E.ON team has experienced, qualified installers who meet all the safety standards required.
I've had external wall insulation fitted and my walls look dirty - why?
Like any rendered house, the external walls should be cleaned every now and then.
Only use the cleaning products recommended in the information pack given to you by the team at E.ON.
Why do E.ON need access to my home when fitting external wall insulation?
The insulation stops moisture created by day-to-day activities such as cooking and drying clothes - moisture which used to travel through your walls.
The moisture needs somewhere to go, so we need access to your home to install new extract ventilation.
Is the external wall insulation the same 'cladding' insulation removed from tower blocks? Is it safe?
No, it's completely different and safe.
If you need to update your home insurance, make sure you let your provider know you've had external wall insulation installed, not cladding.
