Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange
Tritax Symmetry (Hinckley) Limited has held a public consultation on the proposed Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange (HNRFI).
HNRFI, a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) commonly referred to as a 'major infrastructure project', requires a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the Secretary of State for Transport, rather than planning permission from the local planning authority.
The proposed site for the HNRFI mainly lies in the administrative area of Blaby District Council, with parts of the proposed highway works sitting within the administrative area of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
The examination of the proposals has now started, with hearings taking place during October and November 2023.
