Parish councils or community organisations have the right to nominate local land or buildings for listing as community assets.

If the council accepts a nomination, the parish council or organisation has a window of opportunity to bid for the land/building when sold.

Listing only grants parish councils or organisations a right to bid - not first refusal or a right to buy.

Individuals cannot nominate community assets. Certain types of land, including residential property, cannot be nominated.
