Proposed changes to Traffic Regulation Order in Rugby town centre

Market Place, Sheep Street, High Street, Chapel Street, Little Church Street, Drury Lane, Wooll Street, Windsor Court, North Street
 

What is being proposed?

We are proposing the following changes to the existing Traffic Regulation Order which limits vehicular access from 11am until 4pm currently:

• No motor vehicles of any kind to access Market Place, Chapel Street, High Street and Sheep Street 11am – 11pm
• Additional Planting and Street Furniture in locations to remove the through route from North Street to Lawrence Sheriff Street (access will be maintained to all properties)

These changes aim to:

• Enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety within this area
• Support the night time economy in order to support businesses
• Support and enhance pedestrian and cyclist movement
• Improve parking management
• Enhance the public realm and aesthetic
• Improve air quality in this area
• Increase climate resilience – more space for greenery and permeable surfaces

The town centre will remain accessible for all if the proposed changes were implemented. The below map identifies the parking locations and distances to different streets.

It is recognised that deliveries and collections might be impacted at certain times if these changes are taken forward therefore a strategy for delivery drivers using the businesses within the area which will be within the Traffic Regulation Order change is currently being looked into alongside Warwickshire County Council.
