Keep warm and access support this winter

Rugby Borough Council and partners are supporting residents with a range of services that are designed to ease the challenges of the winter months. All winter support services are accessible in one easy to navigate location on its website.
Eligible residents will find that they can get help with managing the financial pressures of energy and water bills. Severn Trent Water is offering reductions on water bills. Act On Energy is providing support with energy debts and assistance in repairing broken boilers and heating systems. The Warm Home Discount Scheme is offering a one-off £150 discount on electricity bills, usually applied automatically.
Residents who may be struggling with living expenses can access support with allowances such as Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance and Pension Credit.
Support is also available for individuals and families who need help accessing food including services such as the Rugby Foodbank and free school meals for children during term time.
For those seeking warmth and companionship, warm hubs across Rugby are open every day of the week. These welcoming spaces often provide hot drinks, Wi-Fi and the chance to connect with others in a safe and friendly environment.
Cllr Claire Edwards, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for Communities, Homes, Regulation and Safety, said: “We encourage all residents to check whether they are eligible for the winter support services available. We are here to help ease the financial pressures that come with winter months, ensuring that all Rugby residents can get the support they need.”
Cllr Noreen New, Rugby Borough Council Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Communities, Homes, Regulation and Safety, said: “No one should be left struggling to stay warm during the winter months. Support is available, and we encourage anyone who needs help to get in touch.”
