The first guided tour on 13 March will take place in Rugby town, showcasing the history of local public art and the talented artists behind the pieces.

Throughout the week, a variety of heritage tours will unveil facts about the borough’s rich history. Stops include the Webb Ellis Football Museum, the Webb Ellis Status, The Queen’s Gates at Rugby School and the historic St Andrew’s Church.

Explore Bilton with a new guided tour through the village and a visit to St Mark's Church, constructed in the mid-14th century. Church volunteers will discuss its history and lead a walk through the beautiful gardens.

The final tour on the 21 March highlights Rugby’s literary heritage and explores the lives of famous writers. All led by expert guides who will bring the towns history to life through its varied landmarks and buildings.

For those who cannot attend during English Tourism Week, guided Rugby town tours will continue every Saturday from April to 17 October, starting at 11am.

All events are free to attend. Places must be booked in advance at www.therugbytown.co.uk/townguides or by calling the Visitor Centre on (01788) 533217.

Cllr Maggie O’Rourke, Rugby Borough Council’s Labour group spokesperson for partnerships and wellbeing, said: “English Tourism Week is the perfect opportunity to celebrate Rugby’s heritage and learn facts you might not yet know.

“The town guides have expert knowledge and offer exciting, memorable tours suitable for all ages.”
