What problems can wasps cause?

Wasps can be a nuisance, especially in the summer months.

Wasps can build nests in or around homes and can sting if feeling threatened or you disturb a nest.

How do I know if U have a wasp nest?

Common signs include:

• frequent wasp activity in the same area
• wasps entering and leaving a hole in a wall, roof or the ground
• a visible nest in a loft, shed, garage, tree or under the eaves of a property

Can I remove a wasp nest myself?

You should not attempt to remove or disturb a wasp nest yourself, as it can cause the wasps to become aggressive and increase the risk of being stung.

We recommend professional treatment, particularly for large or difficult-to-access nests.

Will one treatment visit solve the problem?

In the majority of cases, a nest can be destroyed with a single treatment.

However, multiple nests or difficult-to-access nests may require additional treatment.

Do I need to prepare before treatment?

In the majority of cases, no. 

You may be asked to keep people and pets away from the treatment area and ensure our officer has safe access to the nest.

Will treatment affect my pets?

You may be advised to keep pets away from the treated area for a short period after treatment.

We'll explain any specific precautions during your appointment.

Does the quoted price include follow-up visits?

This will depend on the treatment required. We'll let you know if additional visits are needed and whether extra charges apply.

If treating more than one nest in different locations within the property boundary, an extra charge applies to the additional nest/s.

How soon can an appointment be arranged?

Appointment availability varies. We'll discuss available dates and times with you once your request has been reviewed.

I rent my home – who is responsible for treatment?

Responsibility for treatment can vary, depending on the type of tenancy and circumstances.

If you rent privately, please check your tenancy agreement or contact your landlord.

Can wasps return after treatment?

A treated nest cannot be reused, but new queens build new nests each year.

This means wasps can build a new nest in a different location the following season.

What should I do if I find a wasp nest?

Avoid disturbing the nest and keep children and pets away from the area.
