Town Centre Frontages Grant Programme
The council's Town Centre Frontages Grant Programme was launched in April 2026, initially offering grant opportunities for up to ten property owners or commercial tenants in Sheep Street and High Street.
The programme aims to enhance the appearance and overall character of Rugby town centre, creating a more attractive and vibrant environment for businesses, residents and visitors.
The council intends to roll out the programme to wider areas of the town centre in 2027.
We have published an introduction to the programme - together with an expression of interest form - for town centre businesses interested in applying for an enabling grant or works grant.
Enabling grants
The programme's enabling grants offer up to £5,000 to support the planning and design stages of compliant new or improved commercial shopfronts.
Works grants
The programme's works grants fund the improvements to the property, as outlined in the enabling stage.
The grant supports 80 per cent of the works up to a maximum of £20,000, with applicants required to fund 20 per cent of the costs.
Property owners or commercial tenants must provide compliant designs and permissions to apply for a works grant.
