Love Rugby. Waste Less

While recycling is good, the BEST thing we can do with waste is to not create it in the first place.

Reducing waste can save you money and helps us at Rugby Borough Council too.

We all know that recycling is important, as valuable materials such as metals and plastics can be made into new things and used again instead of being buried in landfill.

But recycling still uses up resources, energy, and money, from the vehicles used to collect it, through to the sorting, re-processing and finally creating new products.

Repair, Reuse, Refill, Borrow

Next time you throw something away, simply ask:

  • Could I repair these clothes, shoes, electricals, tools?
  • Could I reuse this bottle, carrier bag, jar?

Or before you buy something new, ask:

  • If I’m only going to use it occasionally, could I borrow that tool, book, camping equipment?
  • If it’s something you use lots of, is there somewhere I could refill my existing bottle, jar, tub?
