Community comes together for fun in the sun in Benn Ward

Organised by the Benn Partnership Centre and Rugby Borough Council, Friday's (14 August) fun day included a feast of fun and games for youngsters, together with a range of information stalls to offer advice and support to residents.
The council's Play Rangers ran sports and play sessions at the park in Craven Road, while the team from Rugby Art Gallery and Museum entertained with arts and crafts workshops.
The Benn Partnership Centre brought a 'design your own t-shirt' workshop to the fun day, while the event also included first aid demonstrations from St John Ambulance.
Laff's Wood Fired Pizza Company were on hand to offer all visitors a free slice of pizza - and after a slice, advice was on the menu at information stalls hosted by Rugby Citizens Advice, Rugby Borough Council, Rugby Police, Warwickshire County Council, Rugby Eco Hub, Act on Energy, Garden Organic, and Warwickshire and Solihull Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA).
Cllr Nooria Sayani, the Mayor of Rugby, said the Benn Ward Community Fun Day was a perfect opportunity for the community to come together during the school summer holidays.
"The fun day was a perfect example of pluralism, the theme of my Mayoral year," Cllr Sayani said.
"The event brought the Benn Ward together in a spirit of celebration, embracing the idea of community and the connections we all share.
"A big 'thank you' to the Benn Partnership Centre and the council's community and projects team for organising the fun day, all the organisations who supported the event and, most importantly, everyone who came along to join in the fun."
