Coton Forward Neighbourhood Development Plan

Rugby Borough Council at a meeting of its full Council on the 8th December 2015  decided to make the Coton Forward Neighbourhood Development Plan under Section 38A(4) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended).

The Coton Forward Neighbourhood Development Plan now forms part of the Development Plan for Rugby Borough and will be taken into account in local planning decisions.

Background

The Coton Forward Neighbourhood Development Plan was independently examined in early 2015. The examiner recommended the plan should not proceed to a referendum.

However, in August 2015 the council agreed modifications to the plan which ensured it met statutory requirements, allowing the plan to proceed to a referendum.

Referendum

A referendum on the Coton Forward Neighbourhood Development Plan took place on Thursday 8 October 2015.

Residents had the chance to vote 'yes' or 'no' to the following question:

  • Do you want Rugby Borough Council to use the neighbourhood plan for the Coton area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

There were 417 'yes' votes to 30 'no' votes. Turnout was 25.25 per cent.
