An applicant or agent can appeal against the refusal or non-determination of planning permission by the council.

An appeal must be lodged within six months of the decision date. Appeals can be made online via the Planning Casework Service (PCS) or by obtaining a form from the Planning Inspectorate (the address can be found on all decision notices).

The Planning Inspectorate advises the council on receipt of a valid appeal, and the council provides documentation, statements and information to allow the Planning Inspectorate to assess the council's decision.

The Planning Inspectorate forward the appeal decision to both the council and the applicant or agent.
