Geoffrey's Acrylic Pouring Art
7 - 18  March 2023

This is Geoff's first exhibition as an artist.  Geoff is a local resident of Brinklow and started his artistic journey in February 2020.  He specialises in acrylic pouring art using a variety of styles.  There is a dutch pour, swipes, blooms, flip cup and many more.  All are finished with resin to protect the colours.  Geoff takes commissions so do come along and see the range of works he has which include deep edge canvases, ceramic tiles, small table tops and jewellery boxes.

The Moat Gallery, Regent Place, Rugby, is a dedicated space for local artists to showcase their work and connect with the community. With three curated exhibitions planned throughout the year, The Moat Gallery promises a dynamic display of local artistic expression.

Why 'The Moat?

Up until 1924 Regent Place was part of Moat Street, so named because a moated manor house was here in the late 1130s. In fact, above the Oxfam shop is a plaque for Moat House. From the middle-ages to modern day, we are reclaiming the name for our new gallery.

Destruction Arts presents...Rugby: in full Technicolour

by Darren Awang (Dazzler18)

October 2026 - January 2027

The artwork of Destruction Arts, created by Rugby-based artist Darren Awang (alias Dazzler18), is a vibrant fusion of bold watercolour techniques and architectural illustration. Initially seeming simple and cheerful, the artwork intentionally injects a "colour blaster" into everyday scenes, often transforming plain, unloved, or decaying urban structures into captivating and visually interesting pieces.

A central highlight is The Rugby Town series, a rich celebration of local Warwickshire heritage. This collection features distinctive landmarks, such as the golden-yellow facade of the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum and the Cemex cement works, which are both regular recurring themes in his work.

What sets this portfolio apart is its underlying wry humour and satirical twists. Pieces like the futuristic Cemex Rugby Space Port subvert traditional landscape expectations, while other works incorporate playful, pop-culture and psychedelic references.

Through a balance of technical challenge and deliberate "happy accidents," the art delivers an energetic, quirky, and slightly nostalgic perspective on British community life.
