Rugby Town Centre Spatial Strategy
Developing a fresh vision for Rugby town centre
Rugby Borough Council has started work on a new Rugby Town Centre Spatial Strategy, creating a roadmap for the regeneration of the town centre over the next 15 years.
The strategy forms a key component of the council's plans to drive the economic recovery of the borough in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rugby, like many towns across the country, has faced significant challenges in recent years - challenges which have been brought into sharper focus during the pandemic.
The strategy intends to take a detailed look at the economic, urban design and movement opportunities which can help Rugby rise to these challenges.
The council has appointed strategic real estate advisor Avison Young and masterplanners Allies and Morrison Urban Practitioners, alongside transport consultants Urban Flow, to prepare the strategy.
The team has a wealth of experience in high-profile regeneration projects in diverse locations such as Luton, Enfield, Birkenhead and Northstowe.
The team has started developing the strategy and launched a first public consultation on Monday 8 March to find out the views of residents and businesses.
The consultation closed at 5pm on Thursday 18 March. Thank you to everyone who took part.
