Rugby Borough Council
Statement from the Mayor and First Citizen of Rugby
"On behalf of the residents of our Borough I would like to express our deep grief and sorrow on hearing the news that His Royal Highness Prince Philip has died.
"As a borough and as a nation, we must draw together. In neighbourhoods and across communities in Rugby and in the surrounding villages we pause and reflect on Prince Philip's life and the circumstances of his death. As Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, people of other faiths or of no faith, our prayers and our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family.
"At this moment, I call on all of our residents to keep their own family and friends at the front of their minds, to tell them that you love them, and most of all, to be kind."
Cllr William H Lewis
Mayor of Rugby
