Emilie Taylor: May Day May Day May Day
18 May- 10 July 2021
Emilie Taylor’s monumental pots use the English heritage craft of Slipware to interpret and represent post-industrial landscapes. Taylor’s work combines studio ceramics with collaboration within the community to draw out local voices. Looking at May Day traditions, this exhibition will showcase a birch maypole installed in Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s circular exhibition space displaying an embroidered call to arms.

The exhibition will showcase previously unseen photographs by Rugby photographers along with artworks and postcards highlighting the changing face of the town all from the museum’s social history collection.

Life behind the Landscape

Celebrating art, travel and communication we explore why artists are inspired by a particular place, and what makes them repeatedly return. Drawn from Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s renowned collection, this exhibition explores why artists are captivated by the spirit of a place and includes paintings by Prunella Clough, L.S. Lowry, John Minton, and Graham Sutherland.

The Brick by Brick exhibition gathers the work of 18 artists, designers and photographers from around the world who use LEGO® bricks as their medium or inspiration. Using this simple plastic construction block as their starting point, they have created stunning, thought provoking and often humorous artworks which will appeal to art enthusiasts and LEGO® fans alike.
