Artist in residence brief – Expressions of interest

Getting ready for 2020 is a community engagement project in partnership with the Benn Partnership Centre in Rugby. Its aim is to diversify the stories and audiences for Rugby Art Gallery and Museum by working in the community. Focusing on the Social History Collection we will work with Benn Partnership users to explore and expand the collection through outreach sessions, collections documentation and digitisation, oral history recordings, a pop-up museum at the centre and collaborative displays on site.

This project is subject to external funding and we are looking for expressions of interest from artists with residency experience.

If the funding application is successful, we will commission an artist in residence for the project to go on the journey with participants and gather stories of people living in Rugby. We would like a creative output from the artist showcasing the experience and shared storytelling. We are open to suggestions for the output which could include (but not be limited to) oral history recording, spoken word, poetry and performance. The project will be a celebration of the personality, culture and identity of people living in Rugby.

The project will run throughout 2020.
