Aleksander Johan Andreassen is a Norwegian visual artist mainly working with film and video installations.  He uses different methods to explore perspectives on normality and belonging, often working with his immediate family.  In this film the artist presents a fictional and subjective portrait of his father who is struggling with a visual deficit.  Andreassen uses a hybrid documentary format to blur the distinction between subjective experiences and factual happenings and questions the reliability of our memories.  Presented through the retelling of his father’s experience, this portrait looks at autobiographical false memory and the collective memory of national identity.
