VE Day 75 Rugby 2020

On 8th May 1945 the guns fell silent at the end of the war in Europe and millions of people took to the streets and pubs to celebrate peace, mourn their loved ones and look forward to the future. In 2020 the international community is marking the 75th anniversary by remembering the enormous sacrifices that were made at home and abroad and celebrating the arrival of peace in Europe. Whilst celebrations are more muted than planned due to the Coronavirus pandemic they are just as heartfelt. We all truly appreciate the privilege of freedom and preciousness of life for ourselves and our loved ones.

We invite Rugby to join in marking  VE DAY 75 with an @Home VE Day picnic. We have recipes, decoration ideas and activities. We also have selected several images from the Social History Collection giving a snapshot of VE Day Rugby 1945. Tell us about your 2020 celebrations, we'd love to hear.
