Changes to waste collections this Christmas

RESIDENTS will benefit from an additional black bin collection in the week beginning 19 December as a result of changes to the waste collection schedule this Christmas.

The additional collection is needed to make sure that every household has a black bin collection in both the week before and the week after Christmas.

The black bin is for general waste that cannot be composted or recycled. Food waste that cannot be composted, such as meat and bones, can be placed in the black bin, but the council will not empty bins containing garden waste.

Garden waste can be composted at home, kept until green bin collections restart, or taken to one of the Warwickshire County Council-run tips.

Black bins will be collected in weeks beginning 12 December, 19 December, 2 January and 16 January. Blue-lid recycling bins will continue to be collected fortnightly, on residents' normal collection weeks.

Further changes to the black bin collection schedule come into effect for some residents during week beginning 23 January, and affected residents will be notified in the week beginning 9 January.

More information on changes to the Christmas waste collection schedule can be found at www.rugby.gov.uk/recycling, where residents can check their own personal schedule using the postcode search.
