A consultation in 2012 led to development of a masterplan for the park created as part of a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, which unfortunately was unsuccessful. We will now carry out phased improvements to the park in order to achieve as much of the masterplan as possible.
As part of the first phase we will be looking to repair the bandstand, create a new play area and create a skatepark.
As part of later phases we intend to carry out improvements to the pathways and planting, make the War memorial more accessible to all, carry out successional tree planting, create an outdoor gym and public art.
Funding for the first phase has been secured, but we will be looking to apply for external funding to supplement the budget in order to create high quality facilities.
In order to help us draw up draft designs, we would really like to know your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to see and use, and would make you use the park more.
Whitehall Recreation ground is a Fields In Trust protected site ensuring it will remain a Park for ever.
