Strike a Light: Rugby, Where are you feeling?
FREE creative workshop with Soul Paint
Friday 15 May 1-2.30pm
Have you ever struggled to find the words to describe how you feel? Join us for a body mapping workshop where you will be able to create a life-size artwork expressing your own inner world.
Using creative arts techniques such as drawing to make these invisible experiences visible, this workshop will invite you to express the often indescribable and create new perspective on your own experience.
Led by multi award winning artist and director Sarah Ticho, during this hands-on workshop you will be guided to create your own, life-sized body map, which visualises and explores experiences of emotion, feeling and sensation in the body. You will be led through a series of meditative and creative activities based on the tenets of mindfulness and Positive Psychology during the body mapping process to help articulate and visually express experiences of, and methods for coping with everyday feelings, emotions and sensations.
You will also be able find more about the adaptation of body mapping into a virtual reality experience – Soul Paint - and how it is being utilised to create a new paradigm in communication, research and health interventions for pain and mental health conditions.

Strike a Light: The Art and Science of Occupational Therapy
14 April - 16 May 2026
The Floor One Galleries
Bold, inspiring and deeply moving, Strike A Light brings together art, science, archive material and lived experience to reveal how occupational therapy supports people across a wide range of conditions and life experiences — particularly during times of illness, disease, injury and trauma. At its heart, the exhibition highlights creativity — something that links to all of us — and the everyday activities that give our lives meaning.
Funded by and developed with the Elizabeth Casson Trust, and curated by occupational therapists Dr Sophie Knight, (Senior Lecturer Occupational Therapy, University of Worcester) and Jemma Channing [Senior Manager Creative Health and Change, Arts Council England). A strand of the exhibition explores experiences of dementia, highlighting how creative activity can support connection, expression and quality of life. This work has been developed with Jessica Hartshorn, a Midlands-based visual artist.
