Description
The park was created to mark the turn of the century, as a nationwide initiative of the Countryside Agency (now merged into Natural England) supported by the Millennium Commission. The idea was to introduce new areas of open space for the year 2000 to the benefit and enjoyment of the local community. In Rugby, £46,650 was provided by Onyx Environment Trust to help convert St Andrew's Benn Park, a disused school playing field, into an urban park.
The current facilities that make up the Brian Whistance Pocket Park within St Andrews Benn Millennium Green have been created thanks to partnerships and support of Benn’s Friends, SUEZ Community Trust, WREN, DCLG Pocket Parks and Rugby Borough Council.
