Festival of Culture to return in 2012

Published Tuesday 14th February 2012

Rugby Festival of Culture is back for 2012 and organisers are keen to hear from any local individuals, groups, organisations or businesses that would like to get involved.

Taking place in Rugby town centre, from July 2 - 15, the festival is the perfect platform for local musicians, dancers, comics, artists, writers, actors and singers to showcase their talent and be part of one of Rugby’s biggest and most popular events.

The 2011 festival was very successful and hugely popular with Rugby residents, and organisers are planning to make the 2012 event bigger and better.

Last year the programme was packed full of quality entertainment and offered something for everyone, including a promenade theatre performance, street entertainment, cider and beer festivals, music workshops, exhibitions, live bands, dance, classical performances, story-telling, poetry, open air readings, walks and much more.

Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Director of Operations and one of the organisers of the event said: “If you are planning a town centre event during this period let us know and we’ll help promote it through the free festival guide.

“Likewise if you are interested in having a stall at one of the events or in being part of our new Food Market, we would love to hear from you.

“We welcome any ideas for the festival. Rugby is a great place to live, work and visit and we have an amazing array of talent in the local area which we are extremely fortunate and incredibly proud of – the festival gives us the platform to shout about it!”

Aftab continued: “Within the festival there are a limited number of great value sponsorship and advertising opportunities available to suit all budgets - all are flexible and can be tailored to meet your business requirements. They also provide you with a great way of supporting your local community.”

A free Rugby Festival of Culture guide detailing all the activity will be available in early June.
