Arts Council success for Rugby Art Gallery and Museum

Published Friday 5th February 10

Rugby Art Gallery and Museum has won one of the much-coveted Arts Council England grants.

The total sum awarded to the Little Elborow Street venue is £38,900, which will be used to fund a 2010 programme of exhibitions and events celebrating Rugby Art Gallery and Museum's tenth anniversary.

The new funds won by the art gallery and museum will enable it to stage new exhibitions, as well as fun events and educational activities both at the venue and off-site. Funds will also be available for new equipment and marketing.

Nikki Grange, Manager of Arts, Heritage and Tourism at Rugby Borough Council, said: "We applied to Arts Council England for a grant of £38,900 and we have received the full amount. We are absolutely delighted with the news and enormously grateful to Arts Council England for this support."

Councillor Neil Campbell, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for Culture, said:  "The Arts Council grants are hotly contested by cultural venues, and Rugby Art Gallery and Museum should be congratulated on winning this grant which, I am sure, will help to create a fantastic anniversary year of events."
