Millennium Green (Benn)

Picture of Millennium Green Play Area
Millennium Greens are a nationwide initiative of the Countryside Agency (now called Natural England) supported by the Millennium Commission. The idea was to introduce new areas of open space for the year 2000 to the benefit and enjoyment of the local community. Every green has its own unique qualities, due to each local community deciding what the particular site should look like and what features it should have.

In Rugby, £46,650 was provided by Onyx Environment Trust to help convert St Andrew's Benn Park, a disused school playing field, into an urban park. The park was designed and developed by working closely with the local community.  Artist Helga Windle was commissioned to work with local residents to create the floor mural in the centre of the park. The park also includes space to play ball games, a play area and many trees, shrubs and flowers.

The site provides the following leisure amenities:
Town Centre Open Space
Seating
Shrub Beds
Play Area (St. Andrew's Millennium Green Play Area)
Informal Pitches: Football (no booking required)
Facilities for Young People: Tarmac Ball Area (no posts)
