Social Rented Accommodation

View pages in this section

Social Rented Accommodation is housing that is rented through the Council and Housing Associations.

In Rugby, applications for this type of accommodation must be made through the Common Housing Register. This is a single waiting list, maintained by the Council, for all applicants that wish to be considered for Council and Housing Association housing. You do have the option to say if you do not wish to be considered by one or more of these housing providers.

In some cases you may be able to apply directly to the Housing Associations.

Below are the Housing Associations which operate in Rugby and whether or not direct applications can be made to them:

  • Orbit Heart of England
    No direct applications accepted
  • Midland Heart
    No direct applications
  • Affinity Sutton
    Telephone: 0300 100 0303
    Direct applications accepted
  • Mercian Housing
    No direct applications
  • Sanctuary Housing
    Telephone: 0800 2889782
  • LHA ASRA Group
    No direct applications accepted

Social Rented Accommodation is subsidised by the government and the Council's housing allocations policy determines in what circumstances applicants attract a priority. The applicants deemed to have the greatest need to be re-housed are awarded the highest priority as and when vacancies arise. It will always be those with the highest priority for re-housing who will be selected first.
