The Rainsbrook Cemetery and Crematorium, off Ashlawn Road in Rugby, opened for services in Spring 2014. It is operated on behalf of Rugby Borough Council and Daventry District Council. The project is overseen by a Joint Committee of Councillors and officers from both councils.

The crematorium was built after a Rugby Borough Council study found that there was both a community need and a viable business case. The study showed that burial space in the borough will run out in the next three to five years, and that approximately 70 per cent of funerals are cremations. Attending a cremation at the nearest crematorium to Rugby or Daventry involves a 30 mile round trip.
A planning application for the site was submitted to Rugby Borough Council in September 2011. The application was approved by the council's Planning Committee on 26 September 2012, subject to conditions. Construction began in spring 2013 and the first crematorium services were held on 2 April 2014.
