Bond Assistance Scheme
Bond Assistance Scheme for Landlords
The scheme is aimed at people aged over 18 (including families) who live in the borough and who are homeless, threatened with homeless or in housing need and on a low income or benefits.
It helps people who cannot afford to put a deposit on private rented accommodation. By providing a "paper bond guarantee" we can help people who cannot afford a deposit to access private rented accommodation in the Rugby Borough area.
As of the 6th April 2007 landlords now have a duty to secure the deposit with one of the tenancy deposit protection schemes that are available.
The Bond Assistance Scheme does not need to be registered under the Tenancy Deposit Scheme as it is a paper guarantee and no monies are being exchanged.
We recommend that all landlords read the following documents which relate to renting your home, the legal responsibilities a landlord must follow and more information about the Bond Assistance Scheme operated in Rugby.
If you are interested in registering your property with us please complete the Bond Assistance Registration Form and a Housing Options Officer will contact you.
