Rugby Borough Council adopted the Residential Extension Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on 18th April 2005. This SPD supplements the general standard of development policies contained within the 'saved' Adopted Rugby Borough Local Plan - June 1997. The SPD provides guidance on improving the design and character of residential extensions in the Borough.

Please be aware that due to changes to householder permitted development rights, paragraph 2.1 and 2.2 of the Residential Design Guide SPD are no longer applicable.

Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Documents

This Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been produced by Rugby Borough Council to provide additional information to assist in the implementation of Policy H6 of the 2006 Rugby Borough Local Plan. This document should be read in conjunction with the Rugby Borough Council Planning Obligations SPD, June 2007

The purpose of this SPD is to provide up-to-date guidance on affordable housing provision in both rural and urban locations. This document will replace the Council's current Interim Affordable Housing Planning Statement and Local Needs Companion Guide Supplementary Planning Document.

Planning Obligations Supplementary Planning Documents

This Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been produced to outline the policies and procedures of Rugby Borough Council in respect of planning obligations. It is intended that the content of the document will assist in pre-application discussions and in the determination of planning applications.

Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Documents

The purpose of the document is to support the increasing requirement to create more sustainable development. It focuses on the design and construction of built development, considering resource efficiency, the impact of climate change and the creation of places where people can live, work and play.

It supports and develops the policies set out in the adopted Rugby Borough Local Plan, particularly Policies GP1 and GP4, relating to the appearance and design of development and energy conservation respectively. It builds on recent national legislation and the complementary policies in the emerging Regional Spatial Strategy for the West Midlands.
