The block paved area bounded by the John Barford car park, the old Monastery Rooms, Castle Street and Railway Terrace is available for short stay parking.

Tickets need to be purchased from the adjacent Gas Street car park ticket machine.

Rugby Borough Council, in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, have responsibility for enforcement of parking in Rugby Borough.

On-Street parking

Legally, public roads are provided for the unrestricted movement of traffic. However, British custom and practice is that vehicles are allowed to park on-street where it is safe to do so, unless specifically prohibited. The Council's policy is to use parking restrictions (for example, yellow lines) primarily to address traffic congestion or road safety problems.

Warwickshire County Council, who are the highways authority, have appointed Rugby Borough Council to act on their behalf in issuing permits and enforcing parking regulations.

How parking is monitored

A team of Rugby Borough Council Civil Enforcement Officers are employed to patrol the streets and car parks to enforce the regulations when they are broken.
