Rugby Borough Council
Legal Services is tasked with providing legal advice and representation
to the Council corporately, its elected members and paid officers in
connection with progressing official council business, and occasionally
to other local councils or voluntary bodies that may be delivering
services on our behalf or working to common goals.
It is a
frequent misconception that we provide advice and representation to the
general public.
Whilst we may be able to point people in the right
direction when providing other legal information if they have business
with the Council, we are not resourced or insured to provide direct
legal services or advice to the public at large.
We normally refer such
queries either to enquirers' own solicitors/licensed conveyancers, or
to specialist volunteer bodies such as
Citizens' Advice or
Welfare Rights.
