Instructions:

art

  1. Draw your design in pencil on your piece of cardboard. Bold shapes and patterns are easiest.
  2. To prepare your eggshells, boil your them in a pan of water for 5 minutes.
  3. Carefully drain the hot water from the pan and run cold water over the eggshells so they are cool enough to handleart
  4. Peel away the membrane from the inside of the eggshells, make sure they are clean and dry
  5. Choose your first colour – place an eggshell in the jar, add a few drops of food colouring and leave overnight. The food colouring will dye the shell. Repeat for each of the colours in your design. (If you do not have food colouring then you can paint your clean eggshells with watercolour paints)
  6. Dry your eggshells – and then break each one into small pieces with your fingers. We recommend keeping each colour in its own separate potegg

  7. Apply PVA glue to the surface of your card over the top of our design and begin to stick down your mosaic pieces one by one. Tip. You may find it easier to hold the pieces with tweezers
  8. Once finished, apply a coat of PVA glue over your entire mosaic to hold everything in place
  9. Wait to for the glue to dry clear and admire your mosaic!
